Privacy policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Obie Pet Care (ABN 93 901 543 462) (“Obie”, “we”, “us”) is preparing to launch a marketplace for booking pet grooming in Sydney. Until then, our website, obie.pet, lets you join our waitlist or register your interest as a groomer.
This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect
Pet owners (waitlist): your email address, plus your name and suburb if you give them to us.
Groomers (founding groomer form): your business name, contact email, phone number, suburb, and whether you groom from a salon or a mobile van.
Website visits: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, to keep the site running and secure. Our site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when the page loads. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.
Please don’t include sensitive information (such as health information) in our forms. We don’t need it.
2. Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- let you know when Obie opens in your area;
- contact groomers about listing on Obie and becoming a founding groomer;
- reply when you contact us; and
- see which suburbs have the most interest, so we can decide where to launch first.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we won’t use it for any other purpose without your consent.
3. Who we share it with
We only share your information with services that help us run the website:
- Formspree, which receives and stores form submissions for us;
- Netlify, which hosts our website;
- our email provider, so we can send and receive emails; and
- Google, through Google Fonts (your IP address only).
We may also disclose information where the law requires or authorises it, for example to a court or regulator.
4. Information stored overseas
Formspree, Netlify and Google may store or process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. Keeping it secure
Our website uses HTTPS, so information you submit is encrypted in transit. Only the Obie team can access form submissions. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and explain what we’re doing about it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep waitlist details until we’ve told you Obie is open in your area, or until you ask us to remove them, whichever comes first. If Obie hasn’t launched in your area within two years, we’ll delete them.
We keep groomer details while we’re talking with you about listing on Obie. If you don’t go on to list, we’ll delete them within 12 months.
7. Unsubscribing and removing your details
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email support@obie.pet at any time and we’ll remove your details.
8. Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing support@obie.pet. We’ll respond within 30 days.
9. Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, email support@obie.pet with the details. We’ll acknowledge your complaint within 7 days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (www.oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992).
10. Changes to this policy
Before Obie opens for bookings, we’ll publish a fuller privacy policy covering accounts, bookings and payments, and update this page. The date at the top shows when this policy was last changed.
